How Do I Address the Suppressed Emotions that are Causing My Illness?

Most of us have heard that stress is harmful to health. We are also as a society becoming more open to the connection between mental health and our happiness in general. I wish to go deeper than that.

I believe that under each illness and even accidents, there are suppressed emotions that are contributing to the illness. This is a complex statement and it will take many blogs and videos to explain my thought processes on this topic, so bear with me.

My opinions are not meant to replace medical advice, but are to be used in conjunction with medical support and systems. We are fortunate that most of us have access to decent medical care, and other health care practitioners and each of them have value.

I have come to learn that we were never meant to suppress emotions. We are designed to be present to our emotions, and releasing them in safe ways. However, we have over millennia learn to suppress emotions and have taught this maladaptive way to future generations.

I believe that as we explore and reflect on the role of emotion and health, (while engaging health care to support us), we can learn to be self empowered with our health.

In order to suppress emotions even as infants, we were taught to be afraid of emotion. This disconnected us from our inner connection to Source (I call it God). We have to develop emotional addictions in order to receive emotional, physical and mental needs from our environment. We also learn that addictions are normal bartering techniques. In our ignorance, we have perpetuated this to our children (as I have).

We need to be compassionate with ourselves, our ancestors and society for this mess. We can clean this up. We have got what it takes to do this.

I had to experience many wake up calls, before I was willing to see that the cause for my children and my own poor health lies within me. These has been hard years but it has been absolute worth it. As a parent, I beg other parents to be brave and do the most important work you can ever do to help your children.

Where do I began to identify the emotional causes for my illness? Start with addressing addictions. The addiction will expose the emotions while also reducing the consequence of engaging addictions - which in itself causes health issues. Please read the blogs on addictions for more clarification.

Love,

Dr Dharm
